This is an entry from my prayer journal as I meditate on 1 Thessalonians. To learn more about what I’m doing here, read my post on prophecy. These are the things I sense God saying to me as I wait on Him. Is it really God? Well, you, if you are a follower of Jesus, get to be the judge of that.
1 Thessalonians 5b-6 “You know what kind of men we were among you for your benefit, and you became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.”
It is the joy of My Holy Spirit that enables the persecuted to stand fast. You pray for My strength, but it is My joy that constitutes strength. Joy and strength . . . in their true form, they are one. They are the same. Strength without joy is nothing but an empty construct of the human will. Perhaps it will hold for a season, but it cannot long endure. I give My people joy, and they rejoice in the midst of darkness and trials. There is agony; there is sorrow and sadness, certainly, but it is all overshadowed by My pure, unadulterated joy. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
My hand is on you to bring you through; to guide and comfort you; to honor you. Rejoice in My love, for I have chosen you. You are My sons and daughters. Through you, I present to the world a true representation of My Son.
I have bound Myself with an oath. I have chosen you and you shall be My heirs if you continue in the journey whereto I have set your feet. Drink deeply of the living water of My Spirit, for this is your life. It is health to your body and richness to your bones. It will cause rejoicing in your spirit and kindle true joy in your souls. Joy is strength invincible and cannot but be victorious.
Though you may walk through the worst My enemy can bring against you, My joy, when it fills your spirit and bubbles out into your physical being, becomes your strength. Do not fear. I have chosen you, and whom I have chosen, I also sustain.
God amazes me. Isn’t He incredible? Wonderful? Beautiful? Now go and listen to Him for yourself.
Grace and Peace,
