Here is a word that I believe God gave to me. It came about in this way . . . we (the ekklesia, the gathering of the saints) were all together and asking God what we should focus on in the next meeting. People got various things, but as soon as I closed my eyes, a picture came to my mind of an iris, not completely open, with a bright light inside. You could see the light through the upraised petals.
I didn’t know what it meant, but it stayed in my thoughts and I asked God about it later. Here’s what I felt He said to me:
This is My house: My house is alive. It has rivers running through it with beautiful bridges for you to cross. Did you think My house was an ordinary house? No! My house must be built of living stones for it shall be life and peace and light to all who dwell there.
People refer to a family as the house of that name. My house is the House of YHWH. You are all of the House of YHWH. You are the House of YHWH.
The River of Life flows from the Throne. And where is the Throne? It is within you all and it is among you all. From you all, the river flows out to the world around you.
Water symbolizes life in that everything living requires it and is filled with it. Water flows through intricate pathways through each living thing. You are, each of you, fountains of water flowing here and there through your bodies. Lack of water causes death. If the water is lost through bleeding or sickness and not replenished, your body will die. What’s more, if you don’t constantly drink water, you will die even if you didn’t lose any water through sickness or bleeding. But I am to you, spiritually, a fountain of living water welling up within you. This is your food and drink; the living water; the sparkling wine; the life-giving food for your spirits.
Drink then, and be one with the Spirit everlasting. Let each of you set aside a time according to your ability to come to Me and drink of the wine that I shall give you. The life is in the blood and I have poured out My life for you that you, My bride, may live. Drink then, for I have an unending supply. Fill My house with living water, flowing everywhere as it must, for My house is not a dead house but a living organism through which I establish a discrete presence. Always I am everywhere, but I am especially and specifically present in your midst; in My house, My body, My bride.
You are My hands and My arms, My feet and My legs and My beating heart in this world, so that I have a specific presence here. Let people look on you all and see Me, for it is through you that I reveal Myself to this world.
Pour out your own finite lives, each of you. Pour them out into the ground as a drink offering that you may be joined to Me; to My body; and partake always of My life flowing through you, from and to you, through your brothers and sisters; a continual circulation of living water, wine, blood, ever renewed by My endless supply of life.
My house; a pleasant place to dwell for those who dwell therein. All who dwell there, the beloved, are a shelter for one another. My house is My family; the House of YHWH; through whom I exercise dominion over all the universe. My home is My bride, into whom I pour all My love and My life, the resting place for My heart, she in whom I safely trust, My queen who expresses My beneficence and My love to the lonely, the hurting and the heartsick dying generations of Adam the first; poor doomed cut-off stump; dead and dried up. There is no life there.
Yet he, if he is willing, may still answer the wild sweet notes of the call to life which I sing to him through the voice of My bride. The longing and homesickness awakened in him by the sight of My house, the rest and relief administered in love by My hands.
This is the meaning of the metaphors, and they are one. Even so, it is not enough. You will see more as you go along, and all when you truly see Me.
The flower; the iris; is a tender, transient thing, yet through it pours the whole life of the plant. Every effort of life in the plant is directed toward the production of this frail beauty and its fruit — the life pod with the seed of the plant safely tucked inside.
To look at the flower, you would think I chose poorly. The petals, so tender, are easily bruised. It doesn’t last long. Soon it withers and is gone. Yet to it all the life of the plant flows — to produce the seed which will send that life out again to die and to be reborn. The plant pours its life into the blossom and then into the fruit.
If the life isn’t there, the blossom may be beautiful, but how can it produce fruit? A silk flower produced by the hands of men will never give birth to a new plant. It has the appearance of life but no power of life in itself.
I am the life, and it is the life that produces the blossom as it is the blossom that stores new life. The petals so tender and filled with water; are translucent to the light within. Where the glory is brightest, the color and the veins of the petals are blanched away. Yet the flower remains ever visible as a throne for the glory to inhabit.
The flower is a temporary thing. It comes in its season, bears fruit, and the fruit stays with the plant until it matures and is cast away to begin a new plant. The plant itself enters a season of rest. It divides underground in the bulb, but little is happening that is visible. It rests. The next spring, it again puts forth leaves and a new flower stalk.
Whereas you saw the petals folded still as if for prayer, this is a preparation time for you. My light is visible, but soon I will open the petals and My light will sit naked on the throne of the blossom fully opened to the sun and the dew. Then will I receive glory in My church for you will bear much fruit unto righteousness. Kindness rules over cruelty as light rules over darkness, bringing in a gentle harvest of eternal fruit.
Prayer now is called for, prayer required for the bringing forth of the fruit. I will be in your prayer to guide and direct and answer your requests. As I was for Joseph, so shall I be for you — faithful to bring to pass that thing which I have brought to the point of birth. I have conceived in you, labored and built and knitted together a body which shall now bear My light to the world around you. This is your joy and My salvation, which I work for all people — the indwelling Christ, the Light of the World.
So that’s what I got. It’s a particular word for the local body of which I am a part, but I think people who aren’t directly associated with us may also find encouragement and inspiration here. Please feel free, brothers and sisters, to raise any issues, questions, objections, etc. that you might have. I would like to know how you feel about this and how you judge it.
